Bicycle boulevards are important because they are a cost-effective way to promote bicycling by creating a less stressful route for people who want to bike, and encourage many who wouldn’t bike on busier streets to do so. Palo Alto has been a leader in being a bicycle-friendly and environmentally aware community and these improvements will strongly advance the Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan and the bicycle friendliness of the city.
