Call for Applications: San Mateo County C/CAG Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee

The San Mateo County City and County Association of Governments (C/CAG) is recruiting for four open seats for their Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC). This body consists of elected officials and public members from many of the cities in SMC. Application is here and due November 18. Please submit it to Eliza Yu at eyu@smcgov.org or 555 County Center, 5 th Floor, Redwood City, CA 94063.

This body is primarily responsible for making recommendations on applications for funding for the following grant programs for bike and ped projects: Transportation Development Act-Article 3 (TDA-3) and One Bay Area Grant-2 (OBAG2). All the cities and the county are eligible to apply for these funds to support infrastructure (like bike/ped bridges, bike lanes, sidewalks, etc.) and non-infrastructure (encouragement programs, bike plans, Safe Routes to School, etc.). The C/CAG BPAC also receives informational presentations and advise on the Countywide Bike and Ped Plan.

Applicants must be a resident of San Mateo County. The appointment term is for two years. The C/CAG Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee generally meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at San Mateo City Hall. They meet about six times a year.

The BPAC only allows for two members, either elected or public, that reside in any particular jurisdiction (City or Unincorporated County). There are currently two members that reside in the City of South San Francisco. As a result no new members from South San Francisco can be appointed at this time.
