Help Improve Bike Access to BART

The BART Bicycle Advisory Task Force (a volunteer advisory group) is recruiting new members. The Task Force is charged with reviewing and working with BART to improve bicycle access to and on BART.  More information about the purpose of the task force and how to join can be found here: http://www.bart.gov/about/bod/advisory/bicycle Membership is currently open for individuals who live or work in San Francisco, Contra Costa, San Mateo or Santa Clara counties.Several of these seats are allocated to representatives of the local bicycle coalition in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, which is us! Advocacy at SVBC is a two way street. We rely on members like you to provide on the ground knowledge and experience and to keep us informed. In turn, we provide the expertise and links with agencies and other communities. But we can’t do it alone: serving on committees like these ensures that voice is represented at a broader, regional scale and allows SVBC to stay up to date with the agencies serving us.If you’d like to represent SVBC and your community on this committee, please see below for more information. You must:

  • Be a current member in good standing with SVBC.
  • Be willing to communicate with our Director of Policy and Advocacy before and after each meeting.
  • Abide by SVBC policies and positions in your representation.
  • Attend occasional SVBC Policy Advisory Committee meetings at the SVBC office in San José on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6 pm.

BART Bicycle Advisory Task ForceApplicants must:

  • Be a resident of or worker in San Mateo or Santa Clara Counties
  • Use your bike with BART on a weekly basis.
  • Be able to attend meetings every other month in Oakland on the first Monday at 6 pm.
