Summer is here - rides, festivals and Car-Free Happy Hours

Warm weather is finally upon us, so if you haven't done so recently check out the SVBC calendar for events happening on the peninsula and in the South Bay. Here are a few of the events coming soon:

First, SVBC is initiating a series of Car-Free Happy Hours at several local bike friendly restaurants and pubs. Come join us in San Jose on July 8 at The Old Wagon Saloon and Grill in San Pedro Square (map). The Old Wagon Saloon with its wide open patio is a great space for cyclists to meet and greet outside during these warm summer months. Located close to San Jose's Diridon station, it is easily accessible by Caltrain, Ace Train, and VTA light rail.

On Tuesday, July 20, meet us at The Old Pro in Palo Alto. This large sports pub is just a few blocks from the Palo Alto Caltrain Station. Come join us to discuss cycling issues in the Palo Alto and Stanford areas.

Keep an eye out for more Car-Free Happy Hour events coming in August to a city near you.

Rides
Bring the family out to Foster City for Breathe California's Bike for Breath on Saturday, July 10. Choose from four different routes. See calendar for details.

San Mateo/Burlingame ride - this ride will start at the Hillsdale Caltrain station in San Mateo around 10:15am on Sunday July 25 and return to the station in the early afternoon. The ride will take us on a loop through the western residential parts of San Mateo, Hillsborough, and Burlingame. We'll ride at a social pace, covering 17-18 miles in a couple of hours, and stop for lunch after the ride.

Festivals
Save these weekend dates during the final days of summer; September 16 to the 19 for Zer01 Biennial Art Festival in San Jose. This amazing multi-venue festival will highlight sustainable transportation in art.
