Help Improve Bike Access to BART
The BART Bicycle Advisory Task Force (a volunteer advisory group) is recruiting new members. The Task Force is charged with reviewing and working with BART to improve bicycle access to and on BART. Membership is currently open for individuals who live or work in San Francisco, Contra Costa, San Mateo or Santa Clara counties. Caltrain Determines Future Bike Car Design
Almost two years ago, our work and your voices convinced the Caltrain Joint Powers Board to increase future bike capacity with train electrification (due for 2021). Caltrain has now selected a final car design for the future train sets, and the agency's goals to increase human and bike capacity will be met with an increased number of trains per hour. Get a Sneak Peek and Vote on Future Caltrain Bike Cars at the Silicon Valley Bicycle Summit, August 8
Caltrain staff needs YOUR help figuring out what the future bike cars will look like. At the Silicon Valley Bike Summit, August 8, you can not only see a presentation from Caltrain staff, Lori Low, on the types of bike accommodation the agency is looking at but there will also be a first look demonstration of the different on-board bike options in the parking lot next to the bike valet for you to try out. Lori’s presentation will be one of the breakouts, at 11:35 am in the Saturn Room.

Last month, Los Angeles celebrated its 20th CicLAvia in grand style, with thousands biking on car-free Venice Boulevard, from downtown Culver City to Venice Beach. Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeager, San Jose Councilmember Sylvia Arenas, and I were there, participating in a study tour sponsored by the City of San Jose, and led by nonprofit 8 80 Cities.
